The King of Wands | My Way

The King of Wands is an archetype I have encountered in my life over and over again. Their leadership aura attracts people to them. But are they good leaders? It ultimately depends on what a follower defines as ‘good’.

The King of Wands is someone who seems sure about what he wants. He will lead whether you ask him to or not. This individual can be charismatic. If he enters your life, you can expect someone who is genuinely confident and who moves forward with purpose and with vision.

(While I have written this article using the pronoun ‘He’, this archetype can also refer to a strong woman in one’s life…)

The King of Wands archetype will not let anyone get in the way of what they want. It is in their nature to want things to be their way and they will not make any compromises in the way they do things. As they are a mature fire energy, they have mastered the uncanny ability of being both generous and selfish at the same time.

This can be an excellent relationship if you enjoy being with someone who will call all the shots. If you’re happy being the submissive person in the relationship, then, by all means, go ahead and pick this person. Many people do enjoy being with a dominant person. Nevertheless, I feel I must add as a caveat that this card is not the best omen for any partnership.

If you are in a personal relationship with such an individual, you must learn to enjoy the conflict. Fighting is not always a bad thing and in some circumstances love and closeness between two people can even grow after a terrible conflict. I have seen this happen and that is why I no longer interfere when two people are fighting.

The makeup is even better than the breakup!

Temper

The King of Wands usually represents someone who has a problem with their temper. Due to their own personal issues with anger, we, too, may find ourselves on the receiving end of their temper tantrums. Exhaustion, in some circumstances, is not only possible, but guaranteed.

For many people, the King of Wands is not the best omen when it comes to a relationship. They are too overbearing and you will, most likely, need lots of time away from them. You–and your relationship–will need lots of cooling off and cooling down periods. Their character is such that spending time with them is not easy and they can be the most difficult of people to handle, especially in the long-run. Aggression and arrogance is not uncommon with these types.

If the card doesn’t refer to someone in your life, it can also refer to you. Tone down your assertiveness and your aggressiveness if this card shows up. If someone else is speaking, do you listen? Or are you unwilling to listen regardless of who is speaking? Sometimes, the only way for such a relationship to work is to break it off completely.

Even if you feel that you are acting out of love, in reality, you are being very controlling and the other person will eventually reach their breaking point. Forcefully implementing your ideas–which only you believe to be correct–is not the way to solve any problem. You will be abandoned and no one will miss you.

Work and Wealth

At work, the King of Wands represents an action-oriented individual. If there’s something he wants to do, he will go for it. In some situations, he may even work himself to death. No injury or setback will deter him for too long for he will be back at it like nothing ever happened.

A King of Wands type can push you when he thinks that you are not working hard enough, but he will not be able to listen well enough to understand the difficulties that you are going through. He may implement and insist on his own way of doing things, but they are his ways and may not work for you.

The King of Wands represents the good advise of someone who is experienced. But since Kings represent ‘mature’ energy, be mindful that his advise is not outdated or out of touch with the times. Take his advise onboard, but know that he will not have much good advise to offer to the more gentle types. In his mind, might is right.

Since the King of Wands is the pinnacle of the court cards, his presence does mean that you are going achieve some aspect of what you wanted. Wands, by nature, are ambitious and they do not give up easily. Due to their pride, it is impossible for them to admit defeat and move on. It is one of the truisms in life that if we stick with something long enough, we will eventually succeed.

Failure will not deter this king and he will be relentless in the pursuit of a goal that he considers worthwhile, regardless of how many times things head south for him. We have all experienced bad leadership in our lives: be it at work or in a family situation. The King of Wands can represent someone who likes being in charge but is unable to fully handle the responsibility of it. They may be average leaders, at best, but will think the world of themselves.

In your professional life, the King of Wands can represent someone who has completely lost control despite all attempts at control. It could represent someone who does have good intentions but who cannot meet their goals and their targets. They may frequently let you down and not be able to own up to it.

The Strongest Lesson

When it comes to the King of Wands, I feel that the strongest lessons will actually be learnt by those who come into contact with them and not by the archetype itself. Due to the strong presence of the ego within these individuals, it is not easy to teach them anything and the lessons they end up learning are usually the wrong ones.

Unhealthy relationship dynamics are usually a staple in the King of Wands’ life. It will be an ongoing issue for them and it must be addressed once and for all. If there has been a period of separation from the King of Wands, do not expect them to take your feelings into consideration when you get back together.

The only way, unfortunately, to keep this person in check is through tactics of fear, dominance and abandonment. If you’ve made a commitment to them, they will not let you go even if you have decided to leave them for someone else. If you want to reconcile with them, know that regardless of the circumstances, they will still expect you to make all the compromises.

WALK AWAY. You deserve so so much better.

Entrepreneur

Most, but not all, of the entrepreneurs I meet tend to be fire signs. There seems to be a strong relationship between those who dare to fail and those who actually do fail. Failure, in their lives, will undoubtedly be more common than success, but they will never give up on someone or something that they care about.

The King of Wands prefers to be in a role of authority but he may not have the capacity to lead a group of people towards a goal. His ego may be too big for him to understand the needs of others. He is often too caught up in his own self-perception of greatness. Others may wonder, “What is so great about him?” Chances are that he is not capable of taking on the responsibilities he did not realise he had signed up for.

In the event that such an individual chooses to work solo, they will try to offload many of the responsibilities on their partner, who will crumble under the weight of what has been handed to them. I have known many entrepreneurs who have taken personal credit for work that others have done. Some of these entrepreneurs end up relying on luck more than effort and consistency.

In life, it is rare for an opportunity to arrive on our doorstep. Sometimes, we have to wait for the right opportunity to arrive. When it arrives, an ambitious person will grab it and not let it go. At his best, the King of Wands is an individual that will not waste a single opportunity that comes into his life.

His failure rate is much higher than his success rate. He probably knows the taste of failure more than he does the taste of success. But knowing him, he will try again and again… Till the world has no choice but to give him what he wants and let him have his way.
