Rite of passage, a momentous milestone or the event that transforms your life forever and completely?
As I watched the Royal Wedding of the Crown Prince of Jordan, I got to thinking about the idea and concept of a soul mate. All cultures I have been exposed to have some belief in the concept of The One… but whether or not the person we wind up with is actually The One is a whole other story.
Not everyone marries their soul mate.
What’s the dream stone you long to have on your wedding band? Diamonds are no longer as fashionable as they once were. We have moved on from the hardest gem in the world and found plenty of alternatives that cost a fraction of the price and are just as beautiful.
We, as a society, have begun to embrace the unconventional path.

The Clam
The pearl is a gemstone created by a sea creature. Pearls are found within oysters, clams and other shelled mollusks.
Clams are kind creatures. Some species can live for up to 500 years. As naturally gentle creatures, clams long to share their truest and deepest selves with someone truly special, unique and extraordinary.
Quiet, emotional and reserved, clams are not known for their verbal abilities. And yet, their presence speaks volumes. They know and understand the importance and value of silence. The clam may even find it hard to actively seek the company of others, even if they are, indeed, seeking someone to love and to spend their lives with.
Their tough exterior is protecting their inner sensitivity. So much so that few may actually realise how gentle and tender-hearted they actually are. When that special person shows up, however, all their defences and defence mechanisms fall to the wayside.
Before they know it, they have revealed their deepest and truest self. When the time and the circumstances are right, they simply reveal the true beauty that they have been nurturing within themselves. At the same time, their protective shells indicate that they are natural empaths who will be protective over themselves and their partners.
To find a pearl within a clam is truly a divine and magical moment. The pearl represents the three graces of: knowledge, wealth and power. It is the attainment of these qualities that has led people to hunt down this elusive, mysterious and aloof creature so that they can be like the others who had found them.
The shell and you could even say the flesh of the mollusk is not worth or valued as much as the pearl that it creates. Perhaps it is a metaphor to express that our true value is forever vested in what lays within.
Pearl Spiritual Meaning
Unlike most other gemstones that are created by the Earth, the Pearl is created by mollusks that are found in both fresh and saltwater. Pearls can be white, brown, pink, black, gold, and blue. The colour of the pearl is contingent on the environment, the species of the mollusk and the salinity of the water in which the pearl was cultivated.
Pearls can inspire an individual to attract a dependable partner that they can put their faith and trust in. This, in turn, will enhance one’s natural capacity to generate goodwill and positivity in the world. The pearl can provide an anchor to reality without permitting a person to be jaded or cynical.
It is only an enlightened mind that can distinguish between right and wrong. The energies of this stone can help you to create a new beginning and a fresh start. The new start will be characterised by truth, honesty, and modesty.
