Who do you think is going to ‘save’ you when you are down? In all of the 6s, we do see someone coming to ‘save’–or at the very least provide help, patronage and assistance–to the one that has fallen on hard times or is in trouble. While the 6s can and do represent altruism and generosity, it usually represents the people and even the institutions who come in to help us out when we’re not in a very good place in our life.
Perhaps they have been ‘there’ and are looking to help someone who was once in the same situation that they were in. Perhaps they are just nice people who are showing compassion to another person in an hour of need… The intention is important for there are many people out there who would take advantage of someone who is in a vulnerable situation. On the other hand, there are also many out there who will generously provide their help to someone who is in need.
The 6s, in particular, show us that selfishness does not make the world go round. If we’ve fallen on hard times, we need to allow ourselves to receive and accept the help required to move on with our lives. We may not need this help forever. What you’re going through is probably a phase or a difficult period–and once that is over–you will not require this ‘help’.

Departure
Are there people, places, things or habits that are toxic and that must be left behind? Are you clinging to a past that is long gone? The upright Six of Swords represents that someone is ready to guide you forward if you are willing to take even one small step in that direction. Your problems will not disappear overnight and the change you have to make will take time to resolve, but someone is, indeed, there to guide you out of troubled waters.
One of the reasons why we’re unable to move forward is because we’ve been hurt in the past. The Universe does understand your situation and therefore is not looking for ‘perfection’ out of you. The Universe is sending you help. You will recover. Things will get better. You will, indeed, heal; and move on with your life. You will put this tumultuous past behind you and move on.
It’s crucial to give yourself the necessary time and space to heal before rushing into a new relationship. When this card appears, it represents that you are either currently undergoing or have undergone a stormy period where you faced many challenges.
The two figures hidden in cloaks represent that a hidden secret is about to come out into the light.
The Helper
The person in the boat signifies someone who guides or supports us in our healing journey. The truth is, we are never alone. This figure may be a human being or it may be a Divine Being. But there is someone who is there… You do not have to do this alone.
In some scenarios, I have found that the Six of Swords embodies a sense of stagnation. Have you been trying to ‘move forward’ in your life but for some reason are unable to? This card can suggest that there may be emotional baggage or unresolved issues that hinder our much-needed progress and prevent the necessary healing and growth to take place.
If this sounds like you, allow someone to help you.
