The Queen of Wands | The Rebellious Loner

If you actually enjoy fighting with someone, the Queen of Wands archetype is your person. She will not back down from a fight until she gets what she wants. When the Queen of Wands rears its head, there is someone–could be a man or a woman–who has a controlling, pushy and domineering tendency. They are the boss and you better know it.

(A caveat: the Queen of Wands can represent either a man or a woman, but for the purposes of this article, I will speak in the feminine from now on…)

The Queen of Wands is a complicated energy. I say this because it is an energy that I know all too well. My first instinct when I see this card is to conclude that it represents a selfish and rebellious individual. She is unafraid to get her way. She is unafraid to be disliked. She is unafraid to assert herself when she thinks she is right. And most importantly, she is willing to do it at another person’s expense.

But since she is a Queen, she is still a caring and nurturing person. This is why I say that it is a complicated energy. This Queen is someone who does care for you. She will still look out for you in her own way. But she will do it on her terms and not yours. Your relationship with her will not be the most comfortable one. In fact, it will, most likely have lots of ups and downs.

Since Wands types are, by nature, strong and aggressive, this trait and this tendency is not something that is hidden, but rather, it is something that is apparent to everyone who comes into contact with them. The Queen of Wands would rather be ‘right’ than even try to consider another person’s point of view. This is not a live and let live kind of energy. This is a do or die type of energy. My way or highway… Hey, why are you getting on that highway?

This is the kind of person who is not afraid to demand what they want or need with all their might. This is one of those archetypes where someone’s greatest strength can end up being their greatest weakness. If they push their luck too far and take their selfish streak too far, they may find themselves abandoned by others and alienated from them.

When that happens, it is truly a sad and sorry state of affairs.

Relationships

Since Wands is the suit of enterprise and risk-taking, you may find in this woman someone who will preserve her position at all costs. She may see threats where there are none and she will go through hell and back to get even or get back at someone who she perceives has harmed her. The worst part of it is that she does not realise how hurtful her behaviour is and the damage that it is able to cause in the long-run.

The Queen of Wands functions best as a manager, but not as a leader. As a manager, she may be challenging to work with at times, but she will also encourage you and pick you up when you are down. She is not someone who is afraid to exercise her authority over you. Leaders are usually very happy to have a Queen of Wands archetype working under them. When they are given power, they tend to use it to its fullest. They will not shy away from positions of power, but instead, they will thrive when it is bestowed upon them.

By nature, the Queen of Wands is not very sensitive so she may be oblivious to how others perceive her and her behaviour. She may either be popular or extremely unpopular amongst her peers. Do not look to a person like that for a kind and compassionate response to a crisis. She will be there for you, but not necessarily in the way that you need.

In relationships, the Queen of Wands is usually, but not always, the dominant partner in the relationship. She may earn more than her spouse and power issues may dominate in the relationship. In the event that she has a dominant spouse, it is likely that he will be domesticated by the very end.

This is someone who can be friendly with others. At the same time, this is an individual who is generally unbothered by public opinion. No matter what anyone says or comments, this individual will not change themselves. They will simply think they are right. This inconsiderate behaviour can make them a poor choice when it comes to a committed partnership.

Learning to accommodate the needs and values of others is a lifelong lesson for them. They should learn how not to push people beyond their limits. They have to learn how to deal with all sorts of people. They should neither dismiss nor diminish the talents that less aggressive types bring to the table. Strength is not everything and might is not always right.

Pride is a strong theme that comes up whenever any of the Wands court cards appear. Wands people generally do not struggle with their sense of individuality and identity. To the right person, they can be a highly attractive partner. At the same time, this may not be an ideal partner to have.

They are who they are: take it or leave it.

Creativity

The Queen of Wands can foretell an upcoming period of creativity, especially as it pertains to your professional life. If you have reached a point in your life where nothing grabs your interest, you will have to find a way to keep the fire alive as you age and as you grow. It is not like when you were young and all it takes to pique your interest is something new. It will take a lot more than that once we age and realise that we have, indeed, tasted much of what life has to offer.

When the Queen appears, she encourages us to be confident in our ability to take on new tasks and new responsibilities. At the same time, remember not to take your work or business commitments too seriously for at the end of the day it is only a job.

Work must be enjoyed, in some form or another, for it to be pursued as a vocation of value. If you find yourself dissatisfied with the results of your hard work, try to remember what originally motivated you to choose this profession. Can you remember why you were so excited when you got the job? What changed?

If you can pinpoint and understand exactly what happened, you will be able to remedy it once and for all and move on from whatever has been causing you stress and distress.

The Strongest Lesson

The strongest lesson when it comes to the Queen of Wands is that one needs to be more considerate towards others. If you keep pushing and forcing your views, your needs and your opinions on others, there will come a point when the other person gets exasperated, tired and fed up of you. This can either lead someone to retaliate or put some distance between you and them. Due to this, you could end up missing out on many valuable opportunities.

Assertiveness is not the answer to all your problems. Be mindful, always, of who you are dealing with and always try your best to understand another person’s viewpoint. For Wands, the main lesson is always to direct the attention away from themselves and allow more sensitive types to shine.

While your aggressive nature is a part of your personality and while there are, indeed, people out there who find this extremely appealing and attractive, you should be mindful not to hurt the more sensitive types whom you could end up alienating as a result of your forceful and forthright behaviour.

I knew many ‘Wands Types’ people, especially in my youth and childhood. They tend to put themselves first, not realising that one of the reasons why God has blessed them with so much strength is so that they can look after others as well.

For the Wands folk out there, I say, instead of focusing on yourself and your needs, take time each day to make others feel that you value and love them. Instead of asserting your rights, ask questions to ascertain what might be going on with the person who has put some distance between you and them.

Love your fellow human being as much as you love yourself. Take the spotlight off yourself and put it on a person who deserves it more than you do. This will be your highest reward.
