When the World card appears, it denotes that one is either a great traveller or will soon have the opportunities to either travel abroad or meet people from many different walks of life due to their job, enterprise or profession. This card speaks of world trade, international NGOs and even global politics. Do not limit yourself to your family, your country and your locality. The world out there is, indeed, your oyster when the World card appears.
Think global, not local is–and if it isn’t–it should definitely be your motto. The World is one of the travel cards (see Eight of Wands), but it is not the only one. The World card, being a Major Arcana card, represents not an event or a phase, but a significant transition that is destined to take place in one’s life.
It comes to signify that new horizons are opening up for you and that doors and windows of all manner will suddenly open up… Seemingly out of nowhere. But please know that this is not necessarily ‘out of nowhere’ but is a result of you taking the chances that you did and putting yourself out there. Perhaps the faith and trust that you once had in the Universe is now finally being rewarded.

INTERNATIONAL JOURNEY
When the World card appears, it heralds that success, in an international sense, is on the horizon. Yes, you have experienced the hardships, difficulties and many tough lessons of the rest of Major Arcana. You have pushed yourself to your utmost and are now in a place where the Universe will reward you for your willingness to breakaway from all that you knew and held close to your heart.
Most people don’t realise how hard it is to let go of all that you once knew and loved. It is not easy working and living overseas, being a nomad or an immigrant. At the same time, the blessings of a new life–and a new destiny, perhaps even for the upcoming generations–are what keep people going, no matter how many struggles or difficulties they face along the way.
It is, however, not only an outer journey, but also an inner journey.
You are extremely close to reaching your goals so do take some time to introspect before making a much-needed and perhaps long overdue transition to a new way of living and being. Take stock and take into account your earlier experiences and be proud of yourself. See how far you’ve come or even gone and be delighted with what you’ve discovered along the way.
You might be surprised when you speak to someone to take a look at your achievements and your goals. This period of introspection–when it appears that nothing is happening–is what is much-needed before life picks up speed in a way that it has never picked up speed before.
Sometimes, we have no choice but to go through a bit of a Hanged Man or Hermit phase before things pick up. It may seem that ‘nothing’ is happening, when in fact, the Universe is preparing you for a journey which you never even thought possible when you first started it.

TIMING
One important factor not to undermine when the World card appears is to be cautious with timing. Time is of the essence when the World card appears. Know that nothing can ever happen before the right time, no matter how much we force or push things. Sometimes–or should I say more often than not–for people who work hard; failure is a result of unfavourable circumstances.
When the World card appears, you should not try to force anything to happen, but must wait for external circumstances to become more favourable. Sometimes when we look back, we realise that when circumstances are unfavourable, it requires an additional amount of effort for us to get things done. Sometimes, all we need to do is bide our time till everything falls into place. Sometimes, we realise that the only thing we needed was time.
When this card appears, it comes to assure us that all that we’ve yearned for will happen very soon. In fact, you are just a month or two away from the good news that you’ve waited a long time for.
It all came down to the timing…
