Why are people corrupted by power? No, no–people are not corrupted by power. Rather, it is people who are corrupted people that seek power. When people do not have–or are not given–power, they cannot express how corrupted they are.
Power never corrupts anybody. Rather, corrupted people are drawn to positions of power. And when they finally have that temporary power, they use it to satisfy their own ego. They use it to express how corrupted they truly are.

To be given authority is to be given authorisation to do something. And that certain something usually involves people under you and sometimes even above you.
And everybody in this world has some authority.
If your boss is bullying you in the office, when you come home, you will bully your spouse. Later, the spouse will bully the child. The child will bully the sibling. The sibling will bully his toys. This goes on and on. This is the whole game. This is what politics is. This is what abuse is.
At the end of the day, as long as you abuse your authority, you are political. People have to be aware not to abuse their authority. They have to be aware that they have not been granted authority to abuse others.
The Disillusionment
To become disillusioned is a great thing. You have invested in people, institutions and family members in which you had placed your hopes. But now you finally see that the hope you had has no basis in reality. That one can go on hoping endlessly, but nothing has manifested.
Everything around you has failed you. Your financial status, your intimate relationships, your casual friendships, your job, your business; it all leads to a dead end.
You start feeling stuck. What shall I do? Where am I going? You realise you haven’t the slightest idea. That you have never had the slightest idea.
At that point, you start doing something else. Maybe even something you never thought you would do. You explore a completely new ad unthinkable possibility. But you know that even that is futile and will lead to yet another dead end: a path with no road ahead, but rather one that keeps spinning endlessly in a spiral. It is yet another path to keep you completely disillusioned.
Yes, yes, you are disillusioned. But it is only in this place that you can search. The outside world, with all its attractions and distractions, has failed you. Even if you keep looking, you know you will find nothing at all.
At that point, you finally realise that what you have been seeking, is actually seeking you.
