The Two of Swords | The False Premise

Two-faced people have dominated humanity through mental manipulation for most of human history. They have been successful, but only for a period of time. Those who desire power and public influence–anyone who has created a public persona of themselves, a ‘character’ if you will–is leading a double life.

They are showing the world a certain reality, when in actuality, there is something completely different truly taking place. They are not telling or showing you the truth. By deliberately creating a narrative that suits them, they are not facing up to the facts.

Individuals such as these have found such subtle and intricate ways of manipulating others that they know how to leave it to you to do what they want, even in their absence.

THE DECISION

When the Two of Swords appears, it reminds us that many of life’s decisions are not actually difficult. The reason why you are having difficulty making a decision is because this world of ours is filled with people who say one thing and do something else. Things, people, circumstances and so on are just not how they appear. There is a hidden reality that we are not privy to; not yet, anyway.

Someone has chosen to selectively reveal the truth to serve their own hidden agenda. The Two of Swords comes as a reminder that many of our life’s decisions are made under a false pretext. We simply didn’t know the whole story and the whole truth when we made the decision which we did; under the circumstances in which we made it.

We made our decision only knowing a partial truth. Therefore, the best we can do in such circumstances is to make our choices with our best intentions. Due to the fact that we made our decisions under false assumptions, we may have to face consequences we never anticipated. Nevertheless, if we put off or avoid making this decision, it will only lead to stagnation.

It is not so much that the woman in the Two of Swords has intentionally chosen to put on the blindfold. She is neither hiding from nor avoiding making a challenging decision. The truth is that she has no choice but to avoid making a decision at this time as the facts are not out on the table and she is not being told the truth.

THE FALSE PREMISE

False conclusions and incorrect decisions are often based on misinformation which is motivated by fear, greed, prejudice and bias. If we have believed the lies that others have told us; either about ourselves or others, we have either mistakenly or deliberately been kept in the dark about a situation that is extremely delicate and volatile.

This propaganda–this twisting and turning of the facts–will not survive when the seasons change of their own accord. The perpetrator of lies and falsehoods will be brought to account. On an individual level and as a civilisation, we are called to be aware of our actions for if we are not, there may be an unexpected consequence.

The most common barrier to true and lasting honesty is a heart that is closed. Every time we close off our heart to others, it becomes more difficult to open up again. The reason for this is simple. When two parties are set in their positions, a stalemate ensues. They become cut off from each other. Sometimes this action is necessary, but it always comes at a price.

The Two of Swords appears to remind us that we will eventually see the truth, even if someone has deliberately lied to us and chosen to keep us in the dark.
