The Ten of Cups | Happiness, Harmony and Healing

The Ten of Cups can appear when the time comes to heal from painful relationships. A waving couple and dancing children make merry in a beautiful setting. A rainbow with ten cups can be seen shining brightly in the sky. If the relationships you’ve had in the past have caused you pain, the Ten of Cups is here to remind you that after the storm comes the sunshine. In fact, that mythical pot of gold is there for you to take at the end of that rainbow!

I was just thinking this morning of some of the friends I’ve had in the past. So often, our relationships–even our friendships–are filled with feelings of disharmony or dissatisfaction. More often than not, this is because of our priorities and because our values are out of alignment with one another. When this happens, it is time to reevaluate what brought those relationships into your life and perhaps even why you stayed as long as you did. When the Ten of Cups appears, it reminds you to make decisions that resonate with your personal values and brings joy into your life.

Oddly enough, I’ve seen this card come up a lot in financial readings and often with a specific message. In life, we need wealth, as in enough abundance in order to provide stability and comfort for ourselves and our loves ones. On one hand, this card isn’t necessarily about wealth, but rather, to allow one to focus on what truly matters: the emotional riches of a life that is fully lived.

It is a warning not to compromise your happiness for wealth, status, the status quo or anything else. If, financially, you have felt scarcity or instability, this card is a reminder that you get what you are willing to give. Abandonment of a group, a family, a community or even a friendship can occur when this card pops up. It is all fair and good to leave external circumstances behind, but before you make the final decision, ask yourself if the compromise that you are being asked to make so that you can be a part of the group is a valid one. Are your core values being compromised? If so, then, by all means, leave the friendship behind.

Nevertheless, the Ten of Cups reminds us that first and foremost, we ought to strive for harmony within ourselves. External relationships and happiness can sometimes reflect our inner state. If we are tumultuous, we may attract relationships which mirror that. The law of attraction is real and it is at work! That is why some people may wish for wealth and end up with poverty instead. Perhaps you unconsciously value poverty over wealth. If so, realise that it need not be so.

In the context of friendship, this card can indicate the presence of superficial friendships. If you want more, then you must learn to say NO (see Strength Card). The time has come to eradicate inauthentic friendships and instead invest in those that actually truly enrich your life. This card does not only speak of outer riches, but also inner riches.

May you be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams! Carpe diem!
