The Nine of Wands | Soldier On, Buddy

The Nine of Wands tends to appear when we’re feeling drained and exhausted, but we’re still willing to soldier on. At this stage, it is important to acknowledge that we must take adequate time off by taking a step back in order to restore our energy levels. If we continue to push on and soldier on, we risk burn out and that, in turn, means that we’ll be unable to finish what we started.

Sometimes, though, after taking time off, we may decide that continuing our current endeavours is not what we want to do. This would be a foolish and incorrect conclusion, especially since this card is a ‘Nine’. No no, this is not the time to foolishly give up. Instead, take the time off and then get up and keep going.

Who said you could give up? Who gave you permission to give up? Did you come this far to walk away? I highly doubt it!

The truth is: the only reason why you want to walk away is not some ideological or compatibility reason, it is because you have put in a lot of work and effort and yet, you are still facing disappointment. Perhaps you’re coming to realise or are starting to see that your efforts are not at all yielding the desired results. Despite your dedication and willingness to fight for your goals, your dreams and your cause; your actions and your achievements are going unnoticed or unreciprocated. This, in turn, is further draining your energy both mentally and physically.

This is why it is so important to take a break and get adequate rest.

This card, I’ve often found, comes up when one is hoping to have a healthy relationship with people around them; and yet, they are surrounded by people who constantly and consistently oppose them and their efforts. Let’s be honest, if the people around you are hindering all your efforts to succeed, you must know that not only do they not want you to succeed, they are not at all interested in the path that you have chosen for yourself. In situations like this, it is crucial to recognise that while disagreements are natural, you simply cannot accept having someone in your life that is opposing your very decision to do what you are doing.

At the end of the day, a relationship between two people cannot work if the people around you are fundamentally opposed to the decision that you’ve made for yourself. They are not willing or ready to support you and your quest but will instead oppose you every step of the way. They think they know what is best for you, but, the truth is, they most likely do not. They are only rehashing their own stories and their own experiences and trying to work out their own stuff through you.

I hate to be the one to say this, but it needs to be said, that person is most likely struggling with their own life issues and priorities. Your decision is throwing them off balance. If you would like to reconcile the relationship, remember that you cannot have any sort of healthy relationship with someone who has not yet healed from their own battle wounds.
