On a very basic level, the Eight of Wands represents a journey, a voyage or a business trip. During this phase or period, events will move quickly and on a tight schedule; and opportunities arrive unpredictably. The time has come to make the most of this period in your life for who knows when another phase like that will return.

I remember many years ago, I attended the London Book Fair. It ended up being one of the most valuable and important events of my journey as an author. I went from having a manuscript to being a publisher in a matter of months! While this movement was quick, the truth is that it took many years of trial-and-error (and even failure!) before the completion of the manuscript and the publication of my debut novel The Little Light.
When the Eight of Wands appears, it represents that you will breakthrough some of the obstacles that are holding you back. It could well be a lack of knowledge, experience or funding. You will finally find what you are looking for and never look back ever again! You will even forget or find meaning in all your failures because you’ll realise that it was preparing you for something even better, bigger and bolder than you ever thought possible.
I find that the Eight of Wands tends to appear when there has been some sort of roadblock in your life and the right person appears seemingly out of the blue to help you at a significant juncture in your life.
The Eights, in general, represent someone with experience and knowledge who is looking for a new opportunity. This is not a newbie or a beginner, but someone who has already been there and done that. Expect someone who is already at a mature stage in their lives but who has not yet completed what they started or set out to do.
When the Eight of Wands appears, prepare and pace yourself for things could move fast and quickly all of a sudden. Any projects that you begin during this period will progress quickly. Whatever you set out to do will succeed.
This card is good news when it comes to relationships for it represents that a relationship–an important partnership–is about to come into your life.
It can represent a partner from a foreign country and it is up to you to decide whether or not you want to take the risk on someone who comes from a wholly different culture to you. This is an excellent card to get in your spread, however, you must be willing and prepared to change as the status quo–especially in these circumstances–will hold you back from moving forward.
Carpe diem! Seize the day! Say goodbye to yesterday! Who needs yesterday when tomorrow is waiting for you?
