Two of Pentacles | The Beginning of Balance

If I were to ask you, ‘What is your top priority in life?’, would you be able to answer? Depending on who you ask, you will get a different answer. Some will say family, others will say career. Some will say money, others will say renunciation. What is a priority to one person may well be a non-priority to another person. Networking may be a priority for some people, but a few good friendships may be a priority for another person.

For most people, however, their priority is NONE OF THE ABOVE. They usually allocate a period of time and a set amount of resources for each activity. When the Two of Pentacles appears, be mindful not to make anything or anyone your priority in life, but rather, learn how to minimise the risk of making the wrong person, the wrong job and the wrong situation your priority in life.

Pentacles are, by nature, risk adverse. They will not want to waste their time or energy by making the wrong investment. Somehow or another, they know intuitively who and what is worth their time and their effort. When the Two of Pentacles appears, you should be mindful not to invest your time and energy into the wrong situations. Sometimes, you have made the incorrect decision without even realising. Sometimes, however, you think you have made the wrong decision, but you later realise that that was the right decision to make at the time.

All in all, the Two of Pentacles is not so much about prioritising as it is about avoiding making bad decisions.

NO MEANS NOT NOW

When the Two of Pentacles appears, it reminds you not to overextend yourself. It is OK to say ‘No’. It is ok to say, ‘NOT RIGHT NOW’. It is even ok to say, ‘NEVER AGAIN’. And lastly–and perhaps most importantly–it is ok to say, “I WILL REVISIT THIS IN THE FUTURE.” A delay is not a big deal. It is not the end of the world.

The Two of Pentacles reminds us that we may want to forgo the small ship for the big ship that is coming later on. As a Pentacles card, one of the most important lessons to learn is the power of patience and the importance of waiting for the right opportunity to come along.

If you feel or know that a better ship is coming, best you wait for that ship to come… The last thing you want is to be onboard the wrong ship with the wrong captain. The first opportunity that knocks on your door is not always the right one. Sometimes, you are better off waiting…

Have you overextended yourself? Is there something–or someone–in your life that you need to say ‘No’ to or… ‘Not Right Now’ to? When we have overcommitted ourselves to too many things, we end up overextending ourselves. When the Two of Pentacles appears, it is a warning as much as it is an encouragement. How do we find a way to balance all our numerous obligations? It all comes down to what we are able to prioritise at a particular point in time. Find a way to reach an equilibrium, even if it is a temporary one.

Preferences, likes and dislikes

For some people, it is easy to make a commitment to one person, one organisation and even one religion. For others, they have to work very hard to keep two separate aspects of their lives in a perfect and delicate balance. Say, for instance, you have a day job and you also have a business. What will you give priority? Will it be your day job or your business?

While you initially may have decided to keep your day job, it becomes all too clear in the long run that you will not be able to fulfil the responsibilities that you have to your business. Multi-tasking–trying to do too many things at once–will only lengthen your to-do list. Cut down on your tasks in order to give your concentration to what is important to you.

Are you able to provide the energy and the time to both your job and your business? Are you able to provide the time and the energy required to make everyone happy? The answer is probably no. Your business should be your main priority, but with all the other crazy things that keep coming into your life, you are finding it hard to devote the time and energy required to making your dreams come true.

When it comes to finances, the Two of Pentacles reminds us to stay focused on the bottomline. Plan your finances accordingly by controlling your expenses. It is easy to make yourself the last priority when you have so many things happening around you and so many different people competing for your attention.

Relationships

Sometimes, we don’t realise how we have wasted our resources by pursuing the small opportunity. The huge waves in the background come to remind us of the constant changes and challenges that we will face. The figure, however, is able to juggle and balance everything with grace.

When the Two of Pentacles appears in a love reading, it usually signals the presence of conflicting priorities. Sometimes we get so caught up in our duties and our obligations that we end up making the people in our life feel that we do not prioritise them at all. The truth is, we cannot be everything that the other person wants or needs us to be. But what we can do is make the effort.

Two of Pentacles is, in essence, a wakeup call when it appears in a relationship reading. Make sure that you know how to allocate your time, your resources and your energy in the right decisions. Know also, when it is time to take a break.

The Twos, in generally, remind us to do our best to meet our daily, weekly and monthly obligations. While you most certainly cannot be everything to one person, what you can do is never forget to make the effort.
