The Magician Archetype | The Showman and The Performer

,

The Magician… Hey! How did you do that trick? We’re fascinated, utterly smitten and captivated till… We realise and learn how the ‘trick’ is actually done. Instantaneously and immediately, we lose interest. Ahh, is that how it is done? Is that all that is? Why did I not see it?

We’ve all been to a magic show, right? We walk in KNOWING that it is all a trick. But we still go. We’re still fascinated by the trick. When the Magician Archetype comes up, we’re specifically referring to that kind of energy.

We know it is all a trick. What we do not know is how the trick is being done. We know we are being duped and deceived. We know that there is a hidden reality that we are not privy to. But for some unfathomable reason, we walk into the trap. But then again, is it really a trap? Think about it: why in the world do we go to magic shows even though we know it is all a sham?

The Showman

The Magician is a showman. He knows how to put on a show that can fascinate an eager audience. It is not beyond him to use tricks and trickery either. His audience may even know that they are being duped. They may, however, not mind at all.

The Magician does not always represent a conman, but in most circumstances, it usually certainly does. In the event that it does represent a con artist, the advice is obvious: buyer beware. Generally speaking, however, the Magician does not represent the scammer. He is not necessarily out to con you of your hard-earned savings.

Rather, it represents an individual–or even an organisation–that is hiding something from you intentionally. They have no intention of ever revealing the truth. This is not an organisation that you should hold in high-esteem. Once you know the truth of how that place is run, you will lose all respect for the individuals involved.

All is not as it seems when the Magician appears. The people involved have gone out of their way to put on this show that appears real. But it is all just a magic show. The truth is: if you knew how the trick is done or performed, there would be no point in attending the Magician’s show. That is why the Magician hides his secrets.

Do not, however, think for one second that the Magician is a lazy person. It takes years and years of study and practise before one become proficient at magic. It does not happen overnight. But is this what we want to spend our time doing? Are you seriously going to spend the rest of your life being a… ahem… Magician? Are you going to spend the rest of your life tricking people?

Ever thought what will happen when they find out and discover the tricks of the trade?

The Performer

When the Magician appears, get ready to perform. Before we can manifest anything at all in our lives, we must spend sometime studying… Or… shall we just jump into it? The Magician represents a phase, a person or even a period in our life where we are being asked to study, to practise and to perform.

The Magician indicates that we will have numerous options and opportunities, but not all of them will be equally beneficial. Some of them may appear to be beneficial, but the reality may end up being quite different to what we actually thought it would be.

When the Magician appears, we don’t always have the foreknowledge we need to make the optimal decision. There are no guarantees. We have no idea how ‘the trick’ is done. Given time, however, we will discover how they did it. Will we respect them or will we realise that all we’ve learnt is how to con others by putting up a show? The trick may well be an impressive one, but at the end of the day, it is still a trick.

When the Magician appears, it asks us: do I want to spend the rest of my life being a showman? This archetype is particularly prominent amongst people who work in sales, PR, entertainment and so on. What you see is just not what you are going to get. There is a significant amount of fluff and superficiality present. Are these the type of people you want to be surrounded by for the rest of your life?

I take it you already know the answer.

Deluded Decision-Making

We’ve all been in a situation where we’ve had to make a choice between the options that are being offered to us. Even that decision is tough enough. Imagine if the options being offered to us are in the thousands or the millions. It will be even more difficult to make a decision, then.

We will just have to make a decision without knowing all the facts or the outcome of our decisions. When it comes to our career, in particular, most of us end up working in fields that are extremely different to what we studied. We may look back and wonder: why in the world did I waste my time studying that?

Education is not the same as practise and it is definitely not the same as getting the training necessary to perform. Once we’ve had a bit of experience, we know that theory and practise are extremely different. It is one thing to learn something in school and excel at school. When we start working, we may suddenly find ourselves failing terribly.

The Magician reminds us that we should practise, practise and practise what we learn. If we’re unable to ‘perform’ at what we’ve studied, we should shift our focus from theoretical knowledge to practical knowledge. If we find ourselves being unable to make this transition, it is time to go out there and experiment, experiment and experiment! It is how we experience, experience and experience!

When the Magician appears, it reminds us that knowing the theory is one thing. You must then go out there and make magic happen!

Finances

Are you attuned to the multiple opportunities for financial growth which are available to you? We don’t have to rely on one source for all of our income. There are multiple avenues available to us when the Magician shows up. You should make full use of all the opportunities that will soon make itself available to you.

When the Magician appears, it can indicate that we have not been putting our energy in the right place, in the right institutions and in the right people. To unblock your financial abundance, you must overcome your own inner resistance to being rich and successful. Many people are easily content and make do with what they have. Others are ambitious with their financial goals.

When the Magician appears, it indicates the presence of multiple financial growth opportunities. If you wish to increase your wealth, it indicates that you are now in a proper alignment with the Universe and all your desires shall be fulfilled.

At the same time, the Magician may caution us and remind us not to be greedy or to become too greedy. There is, undoubtedly, greed and avarice present in the people around you. When the Magician appears, it reminds us to be cautious with people when it comes to money. Be very careful with where you use your energetic resources.

You may well be a stellar performer and magician, but don’t expect people to be amazed once they know how the trick is done.
