The owl, as a spirit animal, is undoubtedly a popular one. We even use the simile “Wise as an owl…” to describe someone who possesses a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. The owl has the ability to see what is hidden to most. It sees the true reality beyond mere appearances.
All is, indeed, not as it seems when the owl appears. Perhaps there is illusion and deceit present. How are you going to see beyond it? The answer is simple. All you have to do is wait for people to show you their true colours. In the end, you will see the truth for what it is. No one can hide their true colours–and the truth–forever. Eventually, sooner or later, things will come out into the light.

When the owl appears, it reminds you not to fall for how things appear, but instead to keep an eye out for what something actually is. Someone may seem like a nice person on the surface, but do you really know what is lurking underneath that facade? The truth is that most of our relationships are superficial.
When the owl appears, it reminds us that while we do not have to necessarily be transparent all of the time, we shouldn’t accept things at face value. What you ‘see’ is not what you are, ultimately, going to get. There may be someone in your life who is not who you initially thought they were. There is, indeed, a hidden reality here that you are not privy to. If, however, you play close attention, you will see it. But do you even want to see it?
There is an ominous and you could even say eerie quality to the owl. All that comes into our life is, by its very nature, fleeting. And yet, we seem to want to hold onto things, people and circumstances past their due date. The nature of life is transient. When the owl shows up in your life, pay careful attention. There is an upcoming change that is irreversible. You are about to permanently leave behind some old habits, people and circumstances. This change may feel long overdue, but the truth is, this is the right–and you could even say perfect timing–for the much-needed change that you are about to go through.
There is a situation in your life that no longer serves you. If you have been holding onto it with the hopes that it will change, the truth is that much-needed change is, indeed, on the horizon. It will either end of its own accord or you can bring this period and phase to an official end so that something new can come into your life. If you do choose to ‘end things’, consider getting some closure before moving on. Do not just jump ship and disappear. Consider ending things in a way that does not leave room for ambiguity.
The owl is the Queen of the Night in the same way that the eagle is the King of Skies. The owl is associated with the moon and the eagle with the sun. When the owl appears, it can herald a period when hidden secrets of the night come out into the light. But then again, maybe the truth was kept hidden from you for a good reason. It may not be something that you want to see, anyway. If so, all you have to do is close your eyes… and dream away.
