While many tarot readers have chosen to interpret the Queen of Pentacles as a working woman and as someone who brings home the bacon, I generally see the Queen of Pentacles as more of a housewife figure who stays at home and tends to her house, her garden and her family.

What she wants, more than anything else, is to marry into a good home and have a large family with her spouse. She will not only be a Mother but also a family Matriarch. People will know her as so-and-so’s wife and so-and-so’s mother.

Due to the strides that women have made in the workplace, I very much feel that the Queen of Pentacles archetype is slowly disappearing. Instead, the career woman, which I normally associate with the Queen of Swords has become more and more prominent.

The modern woman generally no longer sees motherhood as a goal or a life vocation. If she does choose to have children, she has no choice but to juggle the responsibilities of home and work. This comes at a price as many women will have to leave their children either at daycare, with a domestic helper or at a boarding school where they may not receive the necessary nurturance that they need.

Seeings as how Pentacles people tend to be traditionalists, the Queen of Pentacles exemplifies the ideal of a traditional mother. Due to her upbringing, she will not want to deviate too far from the template that she received from her parents. When she marries, she will do her best to get accustomed to her new environment. She believes that family comes first and will do all that it takes to ensure that she protects those that are nearest and dearest to her.

THE HUSBAND

The Queen of Pentacles is looking for a partner who can be the breadwinner. She is not interested in being with someone who cannot provide for her and her family. Due to this, her spouse’s financial status may be a factor in whether or not she decides to marry him. It is, however, not the only factor.

The Queen of Pentacles will also wonder about his religious affiliations, what schools he went to and so on. She will want a spouse who is on the same wavelength as her. This is the kind of woman who would still prefer to have an arranged marriage, even in this day and age. After all, Pentacles People are traditionalists.

While in some readings, the Queen of Coins can represent a gold-digger, I tend to attribute that energy more to the Queen of Swords. I’ve even noticed that the Queen of Swords can show up when there is a mistress. In the event that the Queen of Pentacles discovers that her spouse is having an affair, she will do all that it takes to secure the well-being of her family. She will not allow anyone to dismantle what she spent a long time creating and building.

Carrying on from that, the Queen of Pentacles always always plays an active role in the maintenance of the family traditions. She is the Matriarch and she is extremely proud of it. Not all families have a matriarch (some have a patriarch instead). Some may have a patriarch and a matriarch, but those cases are rare. If you are blessed to have a Queen of Pentacles in your life, know that your family life will be stable and peaceful.

LEADER

The Queen of Pentacles is the kind of lady that other ladies admire. She is a powerhouse. She is a leader in the home and knows how to handle herself. She will choose to have a big family. She will dedicate herself fully to the well-being of her family and her spouse. She may not necessarily be interested in having a career. If she does have one, it may well not be a priority in her life. If she does decide to have a career, she may not push herself to achieve as much as she potentially could.

At the same time, the Queen of Pentacles represents a hardworking woman. Her family will be a source of pride and achievement for her. Any spouse she chooses must be equal to her and capable of enriching her life. If she feels that he is dragging her down or if he is not pulling his weight, she will try to find a more suitable match. It is highly unlikely that she will choose to marry someone who cannot ‘match’ her.

Since the Queen of Pentacles is a traditional lady, she will want her children to share the same values that she does. If they don’t, it can lead her to impose her way. She will ensure that everyone in the family falls into line. Even after her kids grow up, she will expect them to show up for holidays and so on.
