When it comes to relationships, the King of Cups will not settle for anything less than a soulmate. For some reason, he knows that the perfect person is out there and he is willing to go through great lengths to find that individual. The King of Cups is not the type of person to just settle into a relationship for the sake of money, convenience or to fulfil a societal role.

He has learnt from experience that the wrong relationship can wreak havoc on one’s life and on one’s mental and emotional well-being. He has most likely been heartbroken before, but he has not given up on his search for love. In fact, he has faith that the next time he will finally meet the One.

But since he is a King and not a Page, he is realistic about his expectations. He knows that for a relationship to succeed, he must meet the right person at the right time in the right place. While a good beginning is not everything, a wrong beginning most certainly does not bode well for the future.

Love

The King of Cups knows that one of the most painful experiences in life is when love is either abused or goes unrequited. In the earlier parts of his life, seeing or even experiencing these scenarios may have led him to self-isolate. He may even have stayed single for a long time after a particularly bad breakup. But looking back, he will no longer understand why he cared so much or cried so much. Instead, he will look back and realise that his tears have run completely dry.

When the King of Cups looks back on when he was but a Page, he remembers how naïve he was. He remembers all the people who broke his heart. He could not completely forget them even if he tried. At the same time, however, he has healed from the pain and it no longer hurts him the way it used to. He knows that a good human being will not hurt him. He knows that he, too, must not indulge in behaviours that bring harm either to himself or to others.

Even though the King of Cups is not particularly materialistic in comparison to the other Kings, he knows how to romance his object of affection. The King of Cups is the sort of fellow who will want to be sure that any potential partner is one that he can be with for the rest of his life. He is generally not interested in a one-night stand or in flings. He left those days behind during his Knighthood and they are not coming back. He realises now that they are a waste of time and energy.

While you can, for the most part, count on him to be dependable and loyal, the King of Cups archetype can stray if they feel that they are not loved. Under no circumstances should you neglect them for they will most likely find someone who is willing to give them all the love that they deserve. If you try to ‘buy’ their love, you will be unsuccessful as they are not the types to place such a high premium on material wealth alone.

If the King of Cups does have an affair, they will, most likely, end up choosing one partner once they’ve decided who the better choice will be for the long-run. They are serious about starting a family and will choose someone for their paternal qualities. It is not beyond them to completely cut ties with someone who has neglected them for they will not compromise on their relationship ideal. They are the true romantics and any lack of sensitivity on your part can drive them away from you permanently.

The Family Business

The King of Cups archetype, while fairly uncommon in the corporate world, can either be the head of a family business, a religious organisation, an NGO or even a school. He has a natural capacity for empathy. He has a need to help those whose emotions have been damaged for he has gone through the journey himself and therefore is able to heal others as well. He excels best in roles where empathy is required for love is well and truly his religion

When it comes to business, the King of Cups has the most potential compared to the other Kings. He will be able to build a business that lasts. Since he is not as money-minded as the others, he will be able to stick things out when things are not going as well as he’d hoped. A naturally trustworthy individual, the King of Cups is excellent with money. You can count on him to be generous with others.

As the King of Cups ages, he can become melancholic if he has not found what he has been looking for. In cultures where men are less emotionally expressive and forced into more traditional patriarchal roles, the King of Cups will find it hard to show how much he cares about his partner. He will still love them but will find it difficult to express it.

If this happens, the advise is to find someone less traditional who will be able to give you what you need.

The Complete Package

When the King of Cups appears, it usually foretells the presence of someone who is the complete package. You can expect to be (or become) an emotionally mature individual who has the ability to handle any adversity that comes your way.

If you are carrying trauma from the past with you or within you, the King of Cups signifies a turning point. Choose to heal from the past and the Universe will reward you. Do not run away from your healing journey for you will see that it was an important milestone on your way to the relationship of your dreams.

Even if you have struggled a lot in your life, know that the Universe has your back. You are, indeed, equipped with the necessary tools to overcome whatever and whoever has hurt you and kept you down. No matter what happens, remember that we are all deserving of love.

No matter how many heartbreaks there have been, know that, sooner or later, love, will, indeed come knocking on your door.
