What is my ideal day? Like all innocuous questions, it was easy to ask and difficult to answer. I think of all the things I love doing – like travelling, eating out and hiking – all of which are not possible right now because of the Coronavirus.
I’ve been tinkering around on Amazon’s KDP platform, getting everything ready for the book launch that is happening pretty soon. I can’t even begin to describe how surreal this whole thing feels. It still hasn’t sunk in yet… seeing as how I spend my days in front of a laptop figuring this whole book business out…
Thanks to the sharing economy, there are a plethora of options for you to choose from when you’re deciding to hire freelancers. In fact, there are so many options that it can be overwhelming for the debut author to know where to start. This was my journey.
They say never judge a book by its cover, but we all do. And in this age of social media mayhem, you better take the design of your book cover seriously. Amazon and other websites do offer DIY book covers, but I personally don’t recommend it. It’s too big of a risk to do a shoddy job on something so important.
So, you’ve finished writing your novel. Now what? Perhaps you ask your friends and family to read it. And there’s nothing wrong that. But if your friends are anything like mine, they’re probably not professionals. Some of them may not even read, let alone read for pleasure. Whilst they may have some valuable feedback, I have now come to believe that they should never be the ones you look to for advice. So where does one go?
