A heart that doesn’t know how to forgive is a heart that hurts.
Hearts hurt sometimes. People do things and say things we don’t like. We think we don’t deserve it. What they did hurt us. We wish that person hadn’t done that. But they’ve gone and done it. And now we have to live with the disappointment of it all. The expectations of happiness we once had are all shattered.
Instead what we’ve got are three swords – each sword an unforgettable memory of pain. Some scars are old. Others are new. Some new wounds make us relive old hurts.
But who hurts? Do they or do we?
Maybe it’s easy – to hold onto the pain. To hold onto the swords that don’t belong in our heart.
But we must release them. Not for them, but for us.
For a heart that doesn’t know how to forgive is a heart that hurts.
And I don’t want a hurting heart. My heart deserves far better.
It doesn’t matter if they don’t love you anymore. It doesn’t matter if they don’t care.
No more hurting. No more hurting heart.
